Winter in the City
Denim on denim with the kind of coat that makes everything look luxe. Elzanne caught the light on the Sea Point promenade in a taupe fleck coat, the Le Temps des Cerises Flilly jacket and 400/17 jean underneath, finished with burgundy sneakers and round sunnies. Our most loved look on the grid this week.
This Week
Boetiek is a Cape Town shop with a clear point of view. We hand pick the labels we love, hang them on our rails and style them in person for the women who walk through our door. Every week we pull a few looks worth lingering over. This is what caught our eye.
Finally we are in the heart of winter.
As the days pull us indoors, Lance went looking for warmth in the palette. Soft caramel and earthy green, the shades of a slow Cape Town Sunday and a mug of something hot by the window.
The Poncho
When you have to leave warm and comfortable surroundings but you do not want a heavy duty jacket, a poncho becomes the perfect go to piece. It is effortless and stylish, and the lightweight wool blend keeps you easy against the cold.
A Play on Texture
Soft earthy green knit paired with classic black corduroy, anchored by a reversible jacket. This is the one for the walk after the rain has fallen, when all you want is the cool and the calm of being outside.
Lance
The belted poncho and the green knit under the parka above were both styled by Lance, by hand on our shop floor this week. He is the one who finds you before he pulls a single thing off the rail, asking where you are actually headed first. He styles by the Italian idea of sprezzatura, the kind of polish that looks like you threw it together on the way out the door. He grew up surrounded by women who dressed with intention, and that is where he learned that getting dressed is a ritual and not an afterthought. His one rule is comfort. A piece has to feel as good as it looks, or it never makes it out of the cupboard. So he works from the inside out until you feel ready for wherever Cape Town is taking you that week.
