Boetiek’s Ceramic, Candle & Home Fragrance Collection brings together a curated selection of contemporary South African ceramic art, hand-poured candles and refined home fragrance — expressive pieces created by local artists and makers whose work celebrates craftsmanship, atmosphere and storytelling.

At the heart of the collection is Fragile, an exclusive ceramic range by renowned South African artist Ilene Bothma. Widely respected for her fine art practice, Ilene’s move into ceramics brings the same emotional depth, organic texture and sculptural beauty into a new medium. Created especially for Boetiek, each Fragile piece explores themes of softness, memory and imperfection through hand-finished stoneware forms that feel both contemporary and timeless.

The collection also includes works by JVR Ceramics, known for playful ceramic pieces that balance humour, craftsmanship and distinctly South African character. JVR has become especially recognised for works such as the iconic “Onsie” ceramics, bringing lightness and personality into modern interiors and collectible art.

Alongside the ceramic collection sits a thoughtfully curated candle offering. Atelier Boetiek, founded by Boetiek owner Sonia, was created in collaboration with Ilene Bothma and focuses on beautifully crafted soy-based candles designed to bring warmth and atmosphere into everyday spaces. The collection is complemented by hand-poured candles from Evoke by Tanika, carefully made in Stellenbosch with an emphasis on natural fragrance, craftsmanship and refined simplicity.

Boetiek also proudly stocks home fragrance and body products from Soje, a South African brand known for its organic, hand-poured creations. The collection includes diffusers, room sprays, soaps and body oils — thoughtfully made to bring a sense of calm, ritual and understated luxury into both home and everyday living.

Designed to be collected, gifted and lived with, the Boetiek collection reflects the intersection of art, interior living and contemporary South African creativity. Available both online and in-store at 79 Kloof Street, Cape Town, the collection continues to evolve through collaborations with local artists and makers shaping the modern creative landscape.

Within our beautifully restored Victorian space at 79 Kloof Street, you will discover a considered edit of lifestyle pieces, including art by Cape Town artists, locally sourced accessories such as hats, handcrafted ceramics, and a curated range of gifting items. Our offering is complemented by beautifully crafted, imported sunglasses, selected for both quality and design.

While our boutique is rooted in a physical, in-store experience, we have also introduced our newly launched online store—allowing you to explore and shop our collections with ease, wherever you are.

Full-priced items may be returned for exchange or store credit within 7 days of purchase, provided that:

The item is unworn, unwashed, and in original condition
All original tags are attached
Proof of purchase is provided

Discounted or sale items are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange under any circumstances.

Refunds, Reversals & Store Credit

South African Card Holders

Refunds (including card reversals or EFT payments) are only applicable for items that are returned within 7 days and that are undamaged and not faulty.
Such items must be returned and presented within 7 days of purchase to qualify.
Approved refunds will be processed:
- Back onto the original card used for purchase, or
- Via EFT

For all other returns, a store credit will be issued. No refunds or reversals will apply.

International Card Purchases

Refunds via bank transfer or card reversal are not available
Returns will be issued as store credit only
If a store credit cannot reasonably be used, a cash refund may be considered in exceptional cases, subject to management approval
A 15% processing fee will be applied to any approved cash refund
All requests must be made within 7 days of purchase

In-Store Purchases

Returns and exchanges must be completed in-store within 7 days of purchase.

Online Orders

Return requests must be submitted within 5 days of delivery in order for item to arrive back in store reliably within 7 days.

Return courier costs are the responsibility of the customer, unless otherwise agreed in exceptional circumstances.

The store needs to be contacted prior to return courier and once approved, items must be returned to Boetiek promptly.

Condition of Returns

All items are inspected upon return. Boetiek reserves the right to decline any return that does not meet the above requirements.

Free delivery on all orders over R 2 000
A flat rate of R230 applies to orders under R 2 000
All orders are delivered within 3–5 working days

Delivery Areas

We deliver nationwide across South Africa, with a focus on reliable service to both major cities and outlying areas.

Cape Town deliveries may arrive sooner depending on location
Outlying or remote areas may experience slight delays
